大澳 Tai O
Tai O is a fishing village located on the western side of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Also known as the “Venice of Hong Kong”, as the village is situated mostly on the banks of the river. The houses in Tai O are mostly squatters huts and dilapidated stilt houses, some are newly constructed and some are all torned down. Tai O is also known for its dried goods, such as salted fish, dried sea cucumber, shrimp paste and etc.
This unique village captures a different way of life in Hong Kong. A mellow escape from the madness of the city.
